Oh oh! I just had a Breakup.

No no, not with my boyfriend but with my sanitary pads.

And guess what?

I got a new boyfriend too,

No no, I didn't get back with my Ex

It's the "MENSTRUAL CUP"

Ahh, What? Menstrual cup

Quite scary, right?

No worries, let me break this fear of yours by introducing it to you and I'm pretty sure that you will love my new boyfriend.

Hola Fellows! This is Manvi Bhanawat, a final year medical student here to share my journey with menstrual cup.

I had heard about the menstrual cup quite a years ago but it never came into my attention until I got involved with medical field. But still, just coming to my attention wasn't enough to use it. To be honest, I never had fear of using it but since we live in a society where we have been brought up with this mentality of using sanitary pads, So it was quite a task to adapt a totally new concept. I was using sanitary pads since I was 13 and also had not much knowledge about it back then, So it never bothered me until I got frustrated with all the inconvenience like frequent appearance of rashes, foul smelling, changing pads repeatedly, staining and leakage over clothes and yes, how can I forget the annoyance caused by it due to which we girls need to take a break from everyday's hustle bustle. Being fade up with all these chaos and a constant voice of my neighbour had encouraged me to move towards this concept of using menstrual cup a year back.

At first, I was unable to place it due to Anxiety, Fear or whatever reason and that's where majority of you will panic and stop using it. But then you should think of what I thought and that is - when everyone out there is wearing it then why can't I? Then next month I tried again and succeeded, and from then till now I am living chaos free periods.

Now, let me brief you with the bonus I got from using it :-

  • Rash/Itch free periods

  • No requirement of changing it frequently

  • Economical

  • Long shelf life

  • Eco-friendly

  • I can Dance, Run, Jump and do anything I want to

But as we all know that every coin has 2 sides, likewise menstrual cup do have cons but so does everything else in this world has. But if you use it properly and maintain hygiene than benifit will surely outweight the risk

A MISBELIEF

Many people think that using menstrual cup can take away their virginity due to hymen break and it is holding women back from using it. Believe me it totally is a myth and there is no truth/proof behind it. This isn't my words, It is proven that it does not take away your virginity and moreover hymen is not a proof of women's virginity. But there is still this stigma of loosing virginity in people which is yet to be defeat.

I hope that soon menstrual cup will be proved as UNDERDOG.

So guys, I surely started to love my new boyfriend a lot.

Do you?
